Benefits of Bracing

Bracing can increase joint stability, improve alignment and reduce excessive movements (such as bending, twisting or side to side and front to back actions) that can aggravate the injury, cause pain and prevent proper healing.  Braces help off load pressure, absorbing some of the force encountered from a return to activity.  They allow you to get back to your active lifestyle quickly and safely, whether that means your favourite sport or simple day to day activities like walking.

Total Joint Replacement - Bundled Care Program

Physiotherapy Coverage for Hip and Knee Replacements

Through the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care

Vineland Physiotherapy is associated with the Bundle Care Program offered through The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. The Bundled Care Program is a service delivery and funding model that is designed to promote greater integration in health care delivery, drive high-quality, efficient care and improve patient outcomes and experience following a hip or knee replacement. The program is offered to post-operative patients for hip and knee replacement surgery Essentially, as a means of providing more direct and efficient physiotherapy to help avoid potential waiting times at OHIP funded clinics. To obtain these services a referral from the Hospital where the operation occurred is required upon booking your appointment with Vineland Physiotherapy or another physiotherapy clinic that is affiliated with the program of your choosing.

The program is based on having one single payment made to the bundle holder (usually a hospital site) who will establish a partnership with Vineland Physiotherapy, or the physiotherapy clinic of your choice, to provide needed follow up care, including rehabilitation to the patient. The program will cover an average of eight physiotherapy sessions in a private physiotherapy clinic. Part of the allotted fee total can also be used by patients for any rehabilitative devices or products that are required through the clinic, such as ice packs or biofreeze; however, this will be subtracted from the total approved amount and will most likely decreased the number of physiotherapy visits that are covered. If further treatment is required, it is the responsibility of the patient to pay beyond the approved amount through their Extended Health Benefits, Privately or may continue treatment at an OHIP funded Physiotherapy clinic.
