COVID-19 Updates

April 8, 2020 Update:

The current situation with COVID-19 has forced us all to stay confined in our homes.

While we hunker down and avoid the spread of this virus, there is NO reason to think that you cannot continue to receive good treatment and decrease your level of pain.

Get Started with Online Physiotherapy from Home!

In times like these, it's more important than ever to maintain a sense of normalcy and take care of yourself.

While dealing with this current change in routine, it is still vital that you pay attention to your health and keep up with your treatment routine to maintain your level of health.

Vineland Physiotherapy is now introducing a LIVE Virtual 1-on-1 Video Appointment System that will allow you to meet with your physiotherapist from the comfort of your own home until things return to normal. You will have the option to continue to connect via video no matter where you are (home, office, travelling, cottage, business trip, etc).

During COVID-19 we are offering a complimentary 15 minutes discovery session. Video Physiotherapy is now eligible to be covered through most major insurance providers.

It's just Like FaceTiming A Friend

Our LIVE Video Appointments make it super easy and convenient for you to get in touch with a physiotherapist without leaving the comfort of home.

Our LIVE Video Appointment tool allows you to:

  • Stay in a safe space while getting the care you need
  • Continue your existing treatment or consultation with your physiotherapist or get started on a new course of treatment
  • Practice self-treatment techniques developed by our therapists
  • Maintain social distancing and other isolation recommendations set forth by both the Federal and Provincial governments
  • To have more flexibility with your personal schedule

Our goal is to help you continue your course of treatment and progress towards a healthier tomorrow - this video appointment system allows us to do just that!

While we deal with this change in routine, it is still vital that we pay attention to our physical and mental wellbeing and keep in line with your treatment plan.

March 27, 2020 Update:

Vineland Physiotherapy will not be re-opening on March 30, 2020 as previously communicated, as the State of Emergency has been extended by the Ontario Government. As you are aware the situation with COVID-9 changes daily. We will continue to keep you to updated and will be in contact with patients once we have a firm date when Vineland Physiotherapy will re-open to resume regular operations.

Please review the previous COVID-19 postings on this section of the website for information and re-visit it for the latest updates.

Thank you and take care.

March 24, 2020 Update:

Physiotherapy is deemed Essential to provide Emergency Care

As of today, Physiotherapists have been deemed by the Ontario government as an Essential Service.   This is limited to urgent care needs.   We have posted what services may qualify under these guidelines here on our website - vinelandphysio.com under the March 20th update. Please do not hesitate to contact the clinic at 905-562-3511 and leave a message or send an e-mail: info@vinelandphysio.com  if you would like to book an appointment or have any questions. All calls/emails will be answered within 12-24 hours.

If you do you require an emergency appointment, please note that it will be a 1:1 treatment, so that we can continue to provide a safe environment for you to receive your treatment.

We will continue to practice all the protocols that we have always had in place with regards to maintaining a safe environment:

  • All of our linens are single use and are cleaned using detergent on high heat;
  • Wiping down of all treatment beds and equipment after each use with disinfectant;
  • The clinic is fully equipped with hand washing stations as well as hand sanitizer;
  • Cleaning high-touch areas with disinfectant (e.g., door handles, common area surfaces, railings, chairs, light switches, payment machines, exercise equipment and treatment tools);
  • Our staff wash their hands thoroughly between treating each patient

Vineland Physiotherapy is committed to the ongoing health of our patients during this time.

March 20, 2020 Update:

As previously noted, Vineland Physiotherapy recognizes that there are risks to some patients in not providing care and will make provisions to see patients with urgent needs on a one-to-one basis. Please do not hesitate to contact the clinic and leave either a voicemail message or e-mail, if you feel that you require treatment, as both are being monitored and will be responded to in a timely manner. Vineland Physiotherapy during the COVID-19 pandemic will also offer a free telephone consultation with our physiotherapist to help determine your requirement for urgent physiotherapy or to answer general questions about physical issues. Urgent needs may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • An acute injury, such as an ankle sprain, that may need to be assessed to be a possible fracture;
  • Post-surgical care that is required where not receiving treatment would put a person at high risk of a poor rehabilitative outcome;
  • Pain that deems a person unable to function or work, such as, but not limited to: severe low back or neck pain, elbow or knee pain, etc.
  • It also can be beneficial to consult a physiotherapist on a one-to-one basis first, before going to an emergency room, for an acute musculoskeletal (muscle or joint) concern to decrease the stress on hospital emergency rooms during this unprecedented time and to reduce possible exposure to COVID-19.

Vineland Physiotherapy 4100 Victoria Avenue, Suite 101, Heritage Square. 905-562-3511. Please visit our website www.vinelandphysio.com e-mail: info@vinelandphysio.com or gail@vinelandphysio.com

March 17, 2020 Update

Today, the Government of Ontario declared a State of Emergency and mandated the closures of some businesses. These mandated closures do not include healthcare practices and clinics. At this time there is no requirement for physiotherapy clinics to close.

However, Vineland Physiotherapy has made the decision to close our practice as of today due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ontario Physiotherapy Association has recommended that in keeping with the need to respect social distancing protocols, that all physiotherapy services in the community be suspended and only be offered to patients with urgent needs.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding during these unprecedented times. We understand that physiotherapists play an important role in the health care system and acknowledge that providing physiotherapy at this time does put patients, and physiotherapists, at risk. However, there are also risks to patients in not providing care to consider. If you have an urgent physiotherapy related issue, please contact gail@vinelandphysio.com  or call 226-208-7778 to make arrangements for one-on-one treatment in the clinic.

We will be in touch when we know when we can re-open, which hopefully will be March 30, 2020. Upon re-opening patients who have either cancelled or had their appointment cancelled due to COVID-19 will be given priority.

At Vineland Physiotherapy, your health and well-being is our top priority.

March 16th, 2020

We would like to share some details on the standard daily practices which we have always had at our clinic in addition to extra steps we are taking in light of the virus.

Standard practices that our patients have always experienced at Vineland Physiotherapy include:

  • All of our linens are single use and are cleaned using detergent on high heat;
  • Wiping down of all treatment beds and equipment after each use with disinfectant;
  • The clinic is fully equipped with hand washing stations as well as hand sanitizer;
  • Cleaning high-touch areas with disinfectant (e.g., door handles, common area surfaces, railings, chairs, light switches, payment machines, exercise equipment and treatment tools);
  • Our staff wash their hands thoroughly between treating each patient.

Additional steps we are taking now include:

  • Additional training to our staff on increased sanitization/hand hygiene recommendations;
  • Advising our staff to stay home if they are feeling unwell or have travelled by air in the last 14 days or have had close contact with someone who has travelled by air in the previous 14 days;
  • Increasing the frequency of cleaning all items listed above; and
  • Monitoring information from our health authorities to adjust our plan based on recommendations.

We know that the COVID-19 virus can be alarming and a bit scary. At Vineland Physiotherapy, we see this as a partnership journey with you as we make it a priority to take care of each other.

Here are some tips that we can all follow in our daily lives:

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water (for at least 20 seconds). Alcohol based hand sanitizer is a good option if soap and warm water is not available;
  • Cover your mouth and nose with the inside of your elbow when coughing or sneezing;
  • Regularly clean high touch objects and surfaces;
  • Avoid contact with people who are sick;
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth;
  • If you feel sick, stay home and avoid public spaces.

At Vineland Physiotherapy, the health of our patients is the cornerstone of why we exist. We look forward to continuing to be a partner in your health and wellness journey and taking steps with our patients to create a healthy and sanitary environment.

Let’s all play our role in this joint battle with the virus.
